The Dead Guy Glitch

Extreme WheelsDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (1 video)
I'd just gotten the keypass. I returned to this room and shot down all the bad guys. I walked over to this one and found that he was sticking out of the ground. Upon closer inspection I noticed that he was in the standard 3D human pose -- this is the universal standard pose for all 3D humanoids, and it is easiest to program animations for humans when they're in this pose by default. Also, like any other corpse, he had no collision data and I could walk right through him. However, I think I also managed to jump and stand on him.

Rail Glitch

Extreme WheelsDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (1 video)
At the final room in Extreme Wheels, if you wanna make things easier... After the cutscene in which Ryuichi drags Miyu into the elevator and goes down, find the door to the last part of the level. Open it, but do not walk straight inside. Walk so that you are just BARELY outside the door. Now use A to target one of the CPUs standing below you, and crouch down and move as far to the right as you can. If you do it right, you should be able to recreate this glitch: you'll be halfway through the rail, and can shoot the CPUs down before the cutscene.

The Dumb Guy Glitch

Business PlotDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (3 videos)
Here's a fun thing to try. In the part of the level just after the area where the Floating Guy Glitch happened, go to the door, open it, but don't go inside. Lock on to someone (A button) and let the door close in front of you. Stay locked on to the guy, and open the door. He will have teleported back to his starting position.

Now, how'd I do the Dumb Guy Glitch? Well, I killed everyone except for one guy, and instead made him surrender. The door closed just after he dropped his weapon. I opened it, and he was just standing there (Video 1). I couldn't walk through him, but he didn't respond to anything... So, I jumped onto the corner of the rail and tried to jump onto the Dumb Guy. Instead of landing on him, however, I pushed him away, and when I looked back at him, he was holding an "invisible weapon" -- that is, he thought he had a gun but he was just holding air (Video 2). I brought him downstairs and tried to bring him to the next gunfight (Video 3). During the gunfight, I found that he completely ignored the presence of the other CPUs, and kept standing there. I think he was using a template AI -- that is, an AI that is used as the basis for all other AIs. I made everyone surrender, but the Dumb Guy just stood there, pointing his air gun at me. However, when everybody disappeared AFTER surrendering, he vanished with them. Odd.

Abstract Elevator Glitch

Business PlotDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (2 videos)
Remember my Elevator glitch, in the "Blind Date" level? (see below) Apparently, it's possible in the Finance District level's Elevators too, BUT IF, instead of walking OUT of the elevator, you walk back so you're standing exactly between the elevator's doors, the elevator will go up without you... And the shaft will be a multicolored, crazy, glitched up area.

The second video (in which the glitch was done from the top) shows that jumping does nothing. However, if you crouch after jumping, you'll fall through the elevator shaft's floor and die in a midst of multicolored patterns.

I also tried this on "Blind Date", but if you get stuck in the elevator doors, they'll just... not close fully. I actually have screenshots of this, if anyone's interested.

After you get to the point where you have to walk over a very narrow pathway to cross from one building to another, and after the cutscene in which _____ is poisoned, go to the next checkpoint and then go back to where _____ was wounded. Jump onto the rail and walk around it so that you are on the very side of the building, and then jump down while looking up. You'll be able to see up through the building, and if you did this quickly after _____ walks into the building, you might see him, too. You can head over to the videos page on my site to see it, and you can use this link to download the video directly. On the videos page are two more videos that show what might happen if you have good luck with this glitch: you may be able to land without dying and end up floating around in air below the level.

I never actually entered the room until everybody was down, and I had to duck for cover a lot, so I didn't see HOW he rocketed up to the ceiling and started to levitate in midair, but... there he is... Looks like he's stuck to the roof.

Preform the stutter glitch against the tree shown at the end of the video. Try moving at different angles to increase the stutter; if you move at the perfect angle, you can glitch under the ground. You don't die, and there are invisible walls on both sides of the area. I never tried going out to sea, perhaps I should've...

Update 6/11/2008: I did this glitch again; turns out, there's an invisible wall so you can't go very far out to sea. Also, it helps to crouch while doing the stutter glitch.

Extreme Wheels Cutscene Skip

Extreme WheelsDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (1 video)
By jumping from the crates shown in the video onto the right shelves, you can bypass the stairway and therefore avoid triggering the first cutscene with Ryuichi in it. Triggering the SECOND Ryuichi cutscene does nothing to the first one -- Miyu and Ryuichi are in two locations at the same time.

Another glitch can be seen in this video: the rooms that the NPCs come out of are just pitch-black, textureless enclosures... They can't be entered, but you can shoot into them and hit the interior walls -- the bulletholes that appear are the same as if you were shooting a stone or brick wall. For some reason, this particular NPC "storage area" is open every time this glitch is performed.

The Elastic Man Effect

Extreme WheelsDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (1 video)
The Elastic Man Effect: shooting a faraway enemy from higher ground with a "normal" weapon like a pistol causes them to stretch and curl, floating in the air and moving through themselves.

This glitch seems to be affected by three factors.
  • First, you have to be on higher ground than the target. I do not know what effect this has.
  • Second, you have to be very far away from the enemy. This is probably because if you are far away enough, their AI won't load.
  • Finally, there has to be something between you and the enemy, something that prevents you from targeting them but doesn't stop bullets; in this case it was a curtain. I did the glitch in another part of the level and in that case I was shooting between windowblinds.

So far, I've only been able to get it to work in Extreme Wheels. The other time I did it, I was at the area where the Extreme Wheels Rail Glitch takes place, and I was shooting through the rightmost window's blinds at a target.

Apparently, the glitch can be preformed on multiple enemies at once. Triggering their AI cancels the glitch and returns the affected enemy(s) to normal. The glitch cannot be preformed twice upon the same enemy. If you trigger a checkpoint while an enemy is affected, Load[ing] Last Checkpoint will not allow you to preform the glitch a second time upon that enemy. If the checkpoint was activated before triggering the glitch, however, then you can re-do the glitch freely.

When doing the glitch in this area, another enemy SEEMED to be affected (I could only see their arm, however, so it is impossible to be sure), but when doing this glitch at the Rail Glitch area, only the wounded enemy was affected.

If you climb up the ladder exactly right, and then jump to the ground away from the plane, you can avoid the cutscene and swordfights. You can still retrigger them and finish the level by jumping back into the pit, and climbing up normally.

In this large area, you can find storage containers (which the programmers made solid even though you're not supposed to get to them), "ghost" warehouses that are empty and nonsolid, beta bulletholes (such as the X bullethole shown in the video), and explodable (and invulnerable) small planes.
Miyu isn't in Ryuichi's jet; all it contains is some cardboard boxes and a metal crate. Also, there's a nonsolid wall behind him that can only be seen from inside the plane. Only half of the plane's exterior is visible from the outside, but it's all solid.
Invisible walls surround the entire area. Oddly, instead of a black void (or a multicolored one like in Business Plot's elevator shafts), there is desert-textured ground far beneath the level that extends to, if not past, the skysphere/skybox's edges.

Get a sniper rifle. There's a way to take two shots in rapid succession without having to eject the shell casing (the lever thing between shots). Take a shot while zoomed in, then, as fast as you can, zoom out while button-mashing B.

Out of Bounds

Night of the KomorisDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (Tested)
There is a part of the level where you end up on a roof. When you jump down, Komoris fire on you from everywhere. This area is just before the burning room part. Anyway, when you're on the roof, walk to the edge (after killing the Komoris that are firing on you), and look to your right. You should see a wall. Move to the very edge. and jump; jump off the roof but quickly move back over it as you go through the barrier. You should go around it. Follow the roof to find that the skyscrapers in the distance have no bottoms.

In the flaming room, after killing all enemies, it is possible to jump off one of the balconies and land on the bottom part, past the flames. However, there isn't a way back up, so if you do this, you will have to reload from the last checkpoint.

Left Behind

Blind DateDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (Tested)
At the first elevator in the level, after you've gotten to the keypass, enter the elevator but don't hit the UP button. Turn to face the button, and activate it from the farthest possible distance. IMMEDIATELY start walking backwards (don't waste time turning around!) and you can make the elevator go up without you, forcing you to Load Last Checkpoint. This can also be done at the top of the elevator; if you make it go DOWN without you, you can actually jump into the elevator shaft and find that you can see through the elevator's back wall. You can't walk through it. Crouch down and shoot underneath it and your gun's muzzle flash will reveal a hidden vent; you can even shoot the vent to make steam come out... Again, you'll have to Load Last Checkpoint.

This can also be done with the main elevator in the bar, but unlike the basement one, if done on the main one you do not need to restart, as there is a switch to call the elevator back to whichever floor you're on (OFFICE or BAR).

Blurry Vision

AnyDavidJCobbDavidJCobbTBAProven (Tested)
Sometimes, when you attack an enemy during a swordfight, they will block the attack, the screen'll go blurry, and they'll strike back at you. Well, if this happens right as they get knocked out of the ring, they'll block, the screen will go blurry, they'll walk back in, and everything will stay blurry. (Oddly, though, your hands and swords aren't blurred) The effect ends if you're wounded.

Prolonged Wiimote Rection

When you know you're about to walk into one of those Please wait... screens, get a weapon such as the Uzi, full on bullets, and walk into the Please wait... area with the trigger button held down, so you're constantly shooting. Keep holding it and you may hear the Wiimote vibrate (to give a sense of recoil), but the gunshot effects are no longer playing. A good spot to try this is on the Please wait... in Extreme Wheels, just before the area where one bad guy asks another to get his security badge from the steam room.

Broken Wing Shortcut

Broken WingDavidJCobbDavidJCobb08/09/2008Proven (Tested)
In the large room where you first meet up with Miyu, walk into the corner shown. (It's the corner of the staircase that leads down to the window with the body armor behind it.)

Face towards the bottom of the staircase (away from the corner) and start jumping back into the corner over and over. It may help to occasionally crouch while in midair. Eventually, you'll get to a point where you can't jump -- you'll jump, but then you'll hit something. Now, keep jumping back into the corner as much as you can, and you'll eventually pop out of the staircase and land in the large area below.

You'll notice some holes in the floor; these lead to parts of the tunnels that you enter later in the level. Go to the one farthest from Miyu and drop into it. (If you enter the one closer to Miyu, you'll be shot at from all directions)

Swordfight Bug

LevelDiscovered BySubmitted byDate SubmittedReliability
Geisha HouseDavidJCobbDavidJCobb08/18/2008Proven (Tested)
For this glitch, you'll need an Uzi -- the bug might work with other weapons, but I'm not 100% sure.

At the swordfight shown, walk into the elevator and go up. As you reach the top, a short cutscene will play, with the swordswoman taunting you. Now, hit the button on the elevator to go back down. As you descend, fire a few shots from your Uzi. Once you reach the bottom, hit the button again to go up, being careful not to reload (if you do reload, though, just fire a few more shots). As you reach the top, reload your Uzi and start walking towards the elevator doors. Once you're done reloading, you'll draw your sword; keep hitting left on the Wiimote's D-Pad, so that you keep switching weapons -- do this as you walk towards the swordswoman.

The moment you're able to control your movements again, dodge with the C button; if you did the glitch correctly, you'll be able to walk around as if you weren't in a swordfight.

This glitch isn't exactly useful, though -- you can't turn, and in some cases zooming will make you unable to shoot or jump. The glitch also has some interesting effects on the swordswoman; usually, she ends up in an idle pose and is sometimes non-solid; sometimes she will just perform one attack repeatedly (probably due to that attack being interrupted when you glitched the fight).
